About Us

Engineering Resources was established in January 1997 and has grown to become a leading Engineering firm in northern Indiana. We are prequalified by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). Our services extend to both the private and public sectors.

The firm currently has five Principals and two senior associates in charge of directing the company and ensuring our client’s needs have been satisfied. Please review the brief bios of our Principals.

Kurt Heidenreich PE, SE, CPESC

President – Director of Transportation

Mr. Heidenreich graduated from Purdue University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and in 1989 with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and is head of the Transportation group.  He is a registered professional engineer in Indiana and several other states, and he is a licensed structural engineer in Illinois.  Kurt is also a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.  He is charged with overseeing the operations, planning, and supervision of the firm, as well as project design and management.

Tracy Witte

Vice President – Director of Design-Build Services

Mr. Witte holds a degree from Purdue University in Civil Engineering Technology in 1994 and is a licensed general contractor.   Tracy is a member of the Building Contractors Association and heads up our design-build operations while also serving as project designer and manager for other architectural projects.  He is the corporation secretary and oversees the general operations of the firm.

Derek Frederickson, P.E.

Vice President - Director of Municipal Services

Mr. Frederickson, a graduate of Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1993 and is head of the Municipal Services Group.  Derek is a registered professional engineer in Indiana and Michigan. He is responsible not only for the oversight and management of his group, but also ensuring our staff delivers services to the Client that are consistent with our corporate goals.

Dan Schenkel, P.E., S.E.

Vice President - Director of Structural Design

Mr. Schenkel graduated from Purdue University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University, Fort Wayne in 2001.  Dan is licensed structural engineer in Illinois and a registered professional engineer in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and 10 other states.  He manages a team of structural engineers working with our architectural clients to develop effective engineering designs. The structural team places a high emphasis on quality documents and on-time delivery.

Mark Reinhard P.E., LEED AP BD+C

Vice President - Director of Civil/Site Design

Mr. Reinhard graduated from Purdue University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.  Mark is a registered professional engineer in Indiana and manages the Civil/Site Group.  He is experienced in sustainable design and has LEED accreditation for Building Design + Construction.  The Civil/Site Group serves a range of clients including: Architects, Developers, and Design-Build Contractors.

William L. G. (Bill) Etzler, PE

Director of Business Development

Mr. Etzler holds degrees from Purdue University and Indiana University.  Bill has over 30 years of years of experience in leadership and guidance within the Engineering field.  He has been involved with transportation, water, wastewater and environmental projects across the country.  He serves on numerous boards and committees whose missions directly impact water quality and sustainability at national, state and local level.

Doug Ralston, P.E., RIWP

Technical Director of Environmental Engineering

Mr. Ralston holds degrees from Purdue University, Hanover College, and Ball State University.   Doug has more than 40 years of experience in operations and development of systems involving water and wastewater.   Doug has specialized in designing wastewater plants that are capable of biological nutrient removal.  He is a principal author of two WEF documents, i.e. FD-3 Pretreatment of Industrial Wastes; and Technical Publication for EPA: Nutrient Removal with Existing Secondary Treatment Systems.
